A good scout watches a player for a whole season before making up their mind. Give people that same courtesy.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

First impressions are cheap data and almost everybody treats them as expensive. One bad game, one awkward conversation, one day somebody was rude when their life was on fire, and you have filed them permanently. A season shows the pattern, which is the only thing that predicts anything about a person.

Pick someone you wrote off early and deliberately keep the file open for a month. Watch what they do repeatedly rather than what they did once. Extend the same allowance to yourself, because you have had bad games that were not the whole story.
