The loudest opinions about your choices almost always come from people carrying none of the cost. They have thoughts about your major, your relationship, the job you took, and not one of them is there at seven in the morning when it is your problem to handle. When somebody has strong views about your life, ask what else they are contributing besides views. If the answer is nothing, weigh it accordingly and keep moving. People who turn up with actual help have earned a longer hearing than people who only turn up with notes.
