Going to a movie alone teaches you that your own company was never the problem.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Doing something you enjoy alone in public feels exposed for about ten minutes, and then the lights go down and it turns out nobody was watching. What you learn is not that you can tolerate your own company. It is that the enjoyment was never coming from the other seat, which quietly changes how much has to line up before you go anywhere.
Pick one thing you keep postponing until someone else is free. A film, a gallery, a long walk, a good meal. Go by yourself this month, and go again with someone later if you want.
What would you enjoy doing alone if nobody thought it strange?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
