You’re allowed to mute someone without making it a whole announcement. Quiet exits are still exits.

You can step back from something without staging it. Muting, unfollowing, replying less, leaving a group chat, none of it requires a speech or a reason anybody else has to approve. The announcement version usually starts a fight and rarely changes anything. Quiet works just as well and costs far less.

If an account or a conversation reliably leaves you worse, take the quiet option this week. No explanation is needed unless somebody actually asks, and even then a short honest answer is enough.
