Everyone in the waiting room is staring at a screen. Look up once. Somebody interesting is always there.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

A room full of people looking down feels empty and it is not. Every one of them has a reason for being there, a job, a story, something they would tell you if the conditions were right. The default is that nobody looks up and everybody leaves having met no one. It takes almost nothing to break and almost nobody does it.

Look up once in the next waiting room you are in. You do not have to talk to anyone. Just notice how many people are there and how invisible they were a minute ago.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who might you meet if you looked up while waiting?
