Thoughts are visitors. You can let them in without handing them the keys.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
A thought arriving tells you nothing about whether it is true, and nothing about whether you have to do what it says. Your mind produces a lot of material without checking any of it first. Trouble starts when noticing a thought and believing it collapse into one move, because then the loudest one in the room gets to drive. There is a gap in there, and the gap belongs to you.
When something harsh shows up this week, say to yourself that a thought just arrived. Wait a minute before deciding anything. Most of them leave on their own.
Which passing thought have you let move in permanently?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
