A “not for me” list is as useful as any bucket list. Know what you’re done with.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most people keep a running list of what they want and nothing at all about what they are finished with. That is a waste, because ruling something out is real information and it cost real experience to get. Knowing you are done with crowded parties, or group projects, or running in the cold, saves you from saying yes out of politeness for years. Subtraction narrows a life faster than addition does.

Write down five things you have genuinely tried and do not want again. Not things you are scared of, things you know. Keep the list somewhere you will see it the next time somebody asks.
