Self-awareness looks at yourself to grow. Self-obsession looks at yourself to worry. Same mirror, different reason.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Looking inward can do two completely different jobs, and from the inside they feel similar. One asks what happened and what you would change, then stops, because it got what it came for. The other circles the same thirty seconds of a conversation at midnight and never lands anywhere. The tell is not how much time you spend but whether the time produces anything.
When you catch yourself going over something, ask if you have learned anything new in the last ten minutes. If yes, keep going. If it is the same loop in new wording, that is worry wearing the costume of thinking, and you are allowed to stop.
