Courage is usually a private moment. Nobody sees you decide; they only see what happens next.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The visible part of bravery is the action, and the action is the easier half. What costs something is the second beforehand, alone, when you know what you are about to do and could still not do it, and nobody would ever know there had been a choice. That is where it actually gets spent. By the time anyone is watching, the hard part is already behind you.
Next time that second arrives, notice it instead of rushing past. That feeling is what courage is like from the inside, and recognizing it makes the next one easier to spot.
When did you decide something brave before anyone watched you do it?
