Forgiving someone is taking your hands off a rope they were never going to let go of.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Holding on feels like keeping the other person accountable, but most of the time they have no idea the rope exists. The effort is one sided. Letting go does not mean what happened was acceptable, and it does not require telling them or letting them back in. It means you stop spending your strength on a contest with one participant.

Notice how much of a week still goes to something already finished. Try putting it down for a day rather than forever, since forever is too big to promise. If it turns out heavier than that, talking it through with someone is a reasonable place to start.
