Walk into anything with a way out already mapped. Exits are strategy, not cowardice.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Knowing how you would leave changes how you behave while you are there. You take reasonable risks, you speak more honestly, you stay because you chose to rather than because you are stuck. Without that, every decision gets made under quiet pressure. An exit is not a plan to quit, it is the thing that makes staying a real decision.

Before the next commitment, work out what leaving would involve: who you would tell, what it would cost, how long it would take. Write it down and then forget it. It will be there if you need it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What is your exit plan for the thing you just joined?
