Ducking a disagreement feels like keeping things calm, and in the short term it does. What actually happens is that the other person’s preference becomes the default, and each avoided conversation makes the next one more expensive. The quiet is real, and you are the one paying for it, in small installments nobody sees.
Pick one thing you have been swallowing and say it once, plainly and early, before it has gathered resentment. You do not have to win the exchange. Naming it at normal volume is usually enough to move where the default sits.
