The first week of summer feels endless. The last week feels like somebody stole it. Same number of days.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Time feels different depending on where you are standing inside it. At the start, everything ahead is unspent and shapeless, so it looks enormous. At the end you are counting what is left, and counting makes anything smaller. The days never moved; your attention did.

Try noticing where you are in something while you are still in the middle of it rather than at the edges. Halfway through a break or a season, ask what you want the last stretch to contain. Planning two real things beats waking up in the final week doing math on what is already gone.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which stretch of time vanished on you faster than expected?
