Fireworks last seconds and people drive hours to see them. Short doesn’t mean small.

Value and length are different measurements, though we treat them as one constantly. A ten-minute conversation can reset a year, and a friendship that ran three months can matter more than one that ran a decade on habit. Brief is a fact about duration and says nothing about weight.

Stop discounting the short things this week. The trip that is only a day, the class that ends in six weeks, the person moving away in spring. Go anyway, and be there properly, instead of holding part of yourself back because it is not going to last.
