Volunteering doesn’t show up in your follower count. It shows up in somebody’s week getting a little easier.

Two ledgers are running and only one of them is visible. Hours given to a food bank, or to a younger kid stuck on math, produce no number anywhere, which can make them feel like they did not happen. They happened, in somebody’s actual Tuesday, in a form nothing counts. Learning to do work with no scoreboard is a skill that carries into every part of adult life.

Give two hours this week to something that cannot be posted. Do not mention it afterward. Notice whether it still felt worth it without the receipt, because that answer tells you something.
