Reliability makes talent easier to use.

Talent that cannot be scheduled is difficult to use, so it gets given the work that does not matter if it slips. Reliability is what makes ability usable, which is why consistent moderate skill often gets better opportunities than inconsistent brilliance.

If you feel underused despite being capable, look at whether people can plan around you. Making your talent dependable is usually what unlocks access to the work you actually want.
