Anyone who wants you to cut off everyone who loves you isn’t building a relationship. They’re building a fence.

Cutting you off from everybody else is not a side effect of how badly somebody wants you around. It is the mechanism. With no one else to compare notes with, the only available account of what is normal is theirs, and every disagreement gets settled by whoever is left in the room. It rarely arrives as a demand either, but as jealousy, as hurt feelings, as one friend at a time becoming a problem.

Keep at least two people who came before this and see them without negotiating for it. Notice whether your world has shrunk over six months. Nobody good for you needs everyone else gone.
