Telling someone your whole life story on day one isn’t closeness. Closeness is built, not dumped.

Handing over everything at once can feel like intimacy, and it skips the part that makes intimacy mean anything. Closeness comes from a slow exchange where each person risks a bit more because the last bit was handled well. Skipping it leaves you exposed to someone with no track record, and loads weight onto a person who never agreed to carry it. Being very open is not the same as being close to anybody.

Go in steps and watch what happens to the small things you share. If they get looked after, share more. If they turn up in a group chat, you found that out early and cheaply.
