If you can only be friends with people who think exactly like you, you don’t have friends. You have mirrors.

Agreement is comfortable and it teaches you nothing. A group where everyone thinks alike stops being several people and becomes one opinion with several voices, and inside it you slowly lose track of which beliefs are yours. Disagreement between people who genuinely like each other is rare and worth keeping. It is also the only way you find out where you are wrong.

Hold on to the friend who argues with you without making it personal. Ask somebody this week what they think you have wrong, and let them finish. Your position will survive being questioned, or it was not much of a position.
