If it feels like everyone’s against you, it’s worth checking if you’re the one facing the wrong way.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Sometimes a room really is against you, and that is worth saying plainly, because people do get treated badly and it is not always imagined. When the feeling follows you from room to room, though, it is worth a second look. What is often happening is that you walked in braced for it, read neutral faces as hostile, and answered accordingly. The room then obliges.

Walk into one situation this week assuming nothing has been decided about you yet. Notice how much of your evidence was in the reading rather than in what anybody did. If it still holds after that, believe yourself and go find a different room.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When everyone seems against you, what direction are you actually facing?
