When your parents admit they were wrong, pay attention. That’s a lesson in what it costs and why it’s worth it.

REFLECTION
An adult conceding a point to somebody younger has very little to gain from it, which is what makes it worth watching closely. You are seeing what it looks like when accuracy matters more than authority, and you are also seeing that it is visibly difficult for them. That difficulty is the lesson rather than the apology. Most people never learn the move because nobody ever demonstrated it.
When it happens, do not save it as ammunition, because that is how it stops happening. Say something simple that acknowledges it cost them. Then borrow the move next time you are wrong in front of somebody younger than you.
What did you learn watching a parent admit they were wrong?
