Blame is a hot plate. The team that keeps passing it never gets to eat.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

When a group’s first instinct after a loss is to work out who caused it, everybody starts protecting themselves instead of fixing anything. Energy goes into positioning rather than the actual problem, and the next mistake gets hidden rather than reported. Nobody in that system can afford to be honest. The result is a team that stays bad while being extremely busy.

The fastest way to break it is to take one thing yourself, out loud and early, before anybody assigns it. That works better than asking people to stop blaming each other. Then move the conversation to what gets done differently on Tuesday.
