Feedback is free coaching from someone who spent time watching you. Say thank you before you argue.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Somebody paid attention to your work and then spent more time telling you about it, which most people do not bother to do. The instinct to explain yourself arrives fast, and it usually costs you the rest of what they were going to say. Thanking first is not agreeing. It buys you the whole note before you decide what to do with it.
Next time a coach or a teacher hands you something hard to hear, say thanks and nothing else for ten seconds. Write down what they said in their words, not your defense of it. Argue later, on paper, when you are calmer.
Who spent time watching you and got argued with instead?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
