Jealousy gets quieter when you say it out loud: “I’m jealous.” Named, it loses the steering wheel.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Unnamed jealousy does not sit still. It turns into a reason their work is overrated, or a joke with a little too much edge on it. Saying the actual word takes it out of the driver’s seat, because once you know what the feeling is you can decide what to do instead of acting it out.
Next time the flat feeling shows up after someone’s good news, say the plain word to yourself. Then ask what you actually want that they have, since jealousy usually points at something you would like to go after. Say congratulations and mean it, then put the wanting somewhere useful.
Whose life makes you jealous in a way you never admit?
