Adding one comment to a pile-on feels small. The person on the other end got a thousand small ones.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
From where you are standing, it is one line among hundreds and barely registers as participation. From the other end, there is no such thing as one line. What arrives is the whole weight at once, and every person who added to it was thinking the same thing about their own contribution. Scale is the part nobody sees from inside their own screen.
When something is already being torn apart, your comment adds nothing that is not there ten times over. Close the app, or send the person a message instead, which is the one thing almost nobody does. If you have already posted, deleting it is not nothing.
Is your comment still small when a thousand arrive together?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
