A test measures what you knew on one Tuesday morning. It doesn’t measure who you are.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
An exam captures a narrow slice: what you could recall, in that room, on that particular morning, about a fraction of what you know. Most of what it cannot see is what will matter most later. Treating the score as a summary of your intelligence hands one Tuesday far more authority than it earned. It is a measurement with a very small scope.
Use the result for what it is good at, which is showing you what you had not learned yet. Look at the wrong answers instead of the number. Then set it down and go back to being the larger thing it did not measure.
