Keep the lesson. Return the grudge to sender. You don’t have room to carry both.

Resentment and understanding get stored in the same place, though only one of them is useful. The lesson tells you what to watch for next time, while the grudge keeps the injury current and asks you to maintain it. Holding both means carrying weight purely to keep an old event alive. Letting the second one go does not mean pretending the first never happened.
Write in one sentence what the situation taught you about people or about yourself. Keep that sentence and stop rehearsing the rest of the story. Forgiveness is not required here, and neither is continued custody.
Which grudge are you still carrying alongside its lesson?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
