Rest becomes difficult when your worth has been tied too tightly to production.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
If your sense of being worth something has been attached to output, then stopping does not feel like rest, it feels like a threat. That is why you can be genuinely tired and still unable to sit down, and why holidays sometimes bring anxiety rather than relief. The problem is not laziness or its opposite, it is a measure of value that only counts you when you are producing.
Notice what you feel in the first still hour of a day off. If the feeling is guilt, that is information about the measure rather than about you. Practise short periods of doing nothing until they stop feeling like a debt.
How much of your worth comes from what you produced today?
