Where you’re from is an address. It’s not the destination printed on your ticket.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Origin explains where you started and predicts far less than everyone assumes. A place carries expectations, statistics and other people’s ideas about what comes out of it, none of which describe your ticket. Where you are from is a fact about the past. What you do next is a separate question entirely.
Notice when you are using your background to explain a limit rather than to explain a fact. Keep what is genuinely yours: the people, the humor, what it taught you. Then go where you were going without treating the address as the whole story.
What do people assume about you from your hometown?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
