Getting through a year that tried to flatten you is a skill. It just doesn’t fit on a job application.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Some abilities carry no credential, and endurance is the main one. Coming through a year that took everything required organization, judgment, self management and a tolerance for uncertainty that most work never asks for. No line on a form exists for it, which is a limitation of the form. What you did is still a competence.

Say the plain version to yourself: you kept a life running under bad conditions. Notice where that steadiness turns up now, in how you handle small emergencies. Nobody reads it off a page, though they do meet the person it made.
