The view from the top is half as good if nobody who helped you climb can see it.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Reaching something alone turns out to be quieter than expected. Achievement takes much of its meaning from being witnessed by people who understand what it took, and the ones who helped are the only people who really do. Arriving with nobody left who remembers the beginning is a particular kind of thin.

Look at who is still around from the early part, and whether you have kept up your end with them. Bring them along where you can: the invitation, the introduction, the credit said out loud. Climbing is easier to do alone than arriving is.
