Forget your jacket and you’ll be cold. No lecture needed; the weather did the teaching.

Some lessons arrive without anyone having to deliver them, and those are the ones that stick. Direct consequence teaches better than instruction because there is nothing to argue with and nobody to resent. It is also why rescuing people from every small discomfort tends to leave them unprepared.
Let the small consequences land, for yourself and for the people you are tempted to warn twice. Say the thing once and then stop. And when the cold arrives, take the lesson without adding a speech about it.
Which lesson did life teach you without anyone saying anything?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
