Your knees can be shaking while your mouth is saying the brave thing. Both can happen at once.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
People imagine courage as a feeling that replaces fear, so when the fear stays they conclude they are not brave. The body does not get a memo. Your hands can be unsteady and your voice thin while you say the exact sentence that needed saying, and the sentence still counts.
Stop waiting for the physical symptoms to settle before you speak. Let them be there, say the thing anyway, and keep it short so your voice has less time to wobble. Afterwards what people remember is what you said, not how your hands were doing.
When did you speak up while still feeling terrified?
