Strangers arguing about your work means it traveled further than your friend group.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Disagreement is a distance measurement. For an argument to break out, the work had to reach people outside your own circle, who have no relationship with you and no reason to be polite about it. Indifference is the outcome to worry about; argument means something got through.

Read enough of the reaction to learn what people actually saw, then stop. Do not join the argument to explain yourself. Note which parts provoked a response, because that tells you where the energy in the work is and what to do more of.
