Nothing is brand new. Originality is taking pieces nobody has put in that exact order before.

Waiting to have an idea that owes nothing to anyone is waiting forever, since no such idea has ever existed. Everything gets built out of parts that were already lying around. What varies is the arrangement, and arrangement is where the whole difference lives, because your particular set of parts in your particular order has not occurred before.

Stop auditing your ideas for traces of other people. Ask instead whether the combination is yours, and lean harder into the two or three influences nobody else in your corner seems to be mixing.
