A resume is mostly a summary of what you did when nobody made you.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Most of what ends up on a resume happened in unsupervised hours. Required work makes everyone look roughly similar, so the parts that distinguish you are the things you chose: the project nobody assigned, the skill you kept at, the shift you took when you did not have to. Those are visible from the outside long after the reason for them is forgotten.
Put a few hours a week into something optional and stay with it long enough to have something to show. Pick what you would keep doing without an audience. Consistency there is worth more than variety.
What have you done lately that nobody required?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
