Grace is a hospital, not a hall pass.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Grace gets treated as permission when it is closer to treatment. A hall pass lets you leave with nothing changed, while a hospital assumes something is actually wrong and intends to mend it, which is a harder and kinder thing. Forgiveness that leaves you exactly as you were was never the point of it.

Take the mercy seriously enough to let it work on you. Look at the thing you keep returning to and ask what care it would actually need: a conversation, a habit changed, help you have not asked for. Being forgiven and being healed are different stages of the same thing.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where have you used forgiveness as permission to continue?
