Forgiveness cancels the debt. It doesn’t reopen the credit line.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Forgiveness settles the past and does not automatically restore access. You can release someone from what they owe you and still not hand them the same position in your life, because trust is rebuilt through changed behavior over time and cannot be granted by an act of will. Confusing the two is how people end up hurt repeatedly and told they were not forgiving enough.

Decide the two questions separately. Cancel the debt, genuinely, for your own sake. Then set the terms of contact based on what has actually changed rather than on what was promised.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who have you forgiven without giving back full access?
