Comparing yourself turns your eyes sideways when they were made to look up.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Comparison reorients you. Attention that could be spent on the work, or on God, or on the person in front of you gets turned sideways toward people whose lives you are seeing in summary, and the measurement never settles because there is always another profile. It is not vanity so much as a habit of looking in an unproductive direction.
When you catch yourself doing it, do not scold yourself, just turn your attention back to something in front of you. Mute a few accounts that reliably do it. Look up, or look at your own work.
Whose profile do you check most often, and why that one?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
