Resting is how you tell God you believe the world will keep spinning without you.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Stopping is an act of trust whether or not you think of it that way. Working without pause usually contains a quiet assumption that things hold together because you are holding them, and rest interrupts that assumption directly by testing it. Nothing collapses in the hours you are not working, which is information worth having.
Take a genuine stretch off this week, not exhausted collapse but deliberate rest, with the work left unfinished on purpose. Notice what you are afraid will happen. Then notice what actually does, which is almost always much less.
What do you fear will collapse if you stop for a day?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
