Look how patient God has been with you. Now try that with your little brother.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Patience received is easier to accept than patience extended. You have been given a lot of room to be inconsistent, slow to learn and repeatedly wrong, and the mercy you rely on daily tends to become invisible while somebody else’s fifth repetition of the same mistake stays intensely visible. Noticing the asymmetry is most of the work.

Think of the person who most reliably tests you, often a younger sibling, and give them one more attempt than feels reasonable. Say the thing again without the edge in your voice. Then remember how many attempts you have had.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Who gets the least patience from you at home?
