Emotions make great messengers and terrible judges. Let God have the gavel.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Feelings report accurately on themselves and badly on the world. Anger tells you something mattered, fear tells you something is at stake, and neither of them is qualified to decide what happens next, though both will volunteer. Treating an emotion as information rather than as a verdict keeps it useful without letting it run the situation.
When something rises strongly, name it and wait before acting, ideally overnight. Ask what it is pointing at. Then decide with the emotion in the room and not in the chair, and bring the decision to prayer if it is a large one.
Which decision did your feelings make for you last week?
