Some mornings faith feels like fire. Some mornings it’s just showing up. Both count.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Feeling is a poor instrument for measuring commitment. Some days what you believe is warm and obvious, and other days it is a flat decision made before coffee with nothing behind it. The second kind gets treated as failure when it is closer to the ordinary shape of a long relationship. Presence without emotion still counts as presence.
Do the small thing on the flat days, at the same time, without waiting for it to feel like anything. Read the few lines, say the short prayer, sit for the two minutes. Judge none of it by the temperature, and look back after a month at what steadiness looks like.
What do you tell yourself on mornings when nothing feels strong?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
