A grudge is a subscription you keep paying for a show you already hate.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Resentment charges you monthly. You keep replaying something that already happened, running the scene, updating the case, and every rerun costs attention you would rather spend elsewhere. The other person is usually paying nothing. The arrangement stays in place because cancelling feels like admitting that what they did was acceptable, which it was not.

Work out what the grudge is costing you in hours and mood. Then separate the two decisions: whether to let them close again, which is yours, and whether to keep rehearsing it, which is also yours. Cancel the second one and keep whatever distance you need.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which grudge have you paid for longer than it was worth?
