Pain is loud, but it’s temporary. Purpose is quieter and it lasts.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Pain takes up all the available volume, which makes it feel like the biggest fact about your life rather than the loudest one. Purpose does not compete for attention in the same way. It moves slowly, without urgency, and it is still going after the pain has changed shape.

When something hurts this week, try not to let it narrate the whole future. Ask what still matters that has nothing to do with it, and do a little of that today. This is not about ignoring the pain, which never works, but about refusing to let it be the only thing speaking.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What keeps going in you while the pain is shouting?
