Give God the first five minutes before the feed gets its turn.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
The first minutes of a day set what your attention belongs to before you have chosen anything. Reaching straight for the feed hands the controls to whatever arrived overnight, and the mood of it tends to stay with you for hours. Five minutes is not a spiritual achievement. It is just deciding who gets to speak first.
Put the phone somewhere that requires standing up, and give the beginning of tomorrow to something quiet. Prayer, a few lines of something worth reading, or simply sitting there. If five feels like too much, start with two, because the order matters more than the length.
Which five minutes of your morning could you protect?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
