Some thoughts need to be handed to God, not solved at midnight.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Midnight is a bad laboratory. Everything is louder, nothing can be checked, and your mind works on problems without the resources it would have in daylight, which is why the same worry looks manageable at ten in the morning. Some things are not solvable at any hour by thinking harder about them. Handing those over is not avoidance.

When you catch yourself working a problem in the dark, name it once and put it down for the night. Write it on paper so your mind can stop holding the file open. Pray it, or leave it, and look at it tomorrow when you have daylight and some ability to act.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which problem do you keep trying to solve after midnight?
