Thumbing past your own life at 2x speed doesn’t make it shorter. It just makes it blurry.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Speed does not save time in the way it promises. You get through more and retain less of all of it, so the week is just as long and considerably vaguer in hindsight. Rushing the parts of a day you have decided are filler tends to blur the parts you actually wanted. Nothing gets shortened, it just gets less distinct.

Pick one thing today and take it at normal speed: one meal, one walk, one conversation with nothing playing underneath it. Notice how much more of it is still with you at bedtime. Then decide which other parts of the week deserve to be experienced rather than processed.
