Dad’s overtime never showed up in your group chat, but it showed up in your closet, your fridge and your phone plan.

GRATITUDE
A lot of love gets delivered in a form that never gets mentioned. Extra shifts do not show up in conversation, they show up in what is in the fridge, what you are wearing and whether your phone works. The result is that it goes largely unseen.
Add up what one week of your normal life costs somebody, in hours rather than money. Then say thank you for something specific instead of in general. If the person who did that for you is still reachable, tell them you noticed, because they have probably assumed for years that you did not.
What did someone pay for that you treated as automatic?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
