Leave home for one year and the streets you called boring will come back as some of the most beautiful memories you own.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Familiarity flattens whatever you see every day, and the street you walk without looking is the first casualty. Distance gives it back to you. Once a place is no longer available, your mind stops filing it as background and starts noticing the light on it, the corner shop, the sound of it at night. Nothing about the street changed; your access did.
You do not have to leave to get some of that back. Walk one familiar route this week at a different hour, or with your head up, and let yourself notice three things you have never really looked at.
What about your hometown do you currently find boring?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
